Heart Failure Medications
Heart failure means that the heart can no longer pump enough blood to all parts of the body. When the heart is too weak or too stiff to adequately pump blood, it can accumulate in the heart’s chambers, which can cause other fluids to build up in different parts of the body.
Accumulation of blood in the heart can cause congestion in the lungs, making it harder to breathe; swelling in the legs or the abdomen.
Today, one of many heart failure therapies is the use of drugs to manage the symptoms of heart failure. The most commonly used medications are: Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, Beta-blockers and Digoxin.
